This past Saturday was the Pratt Fine Arts Center’s 28th Annual Fine Art Auction and I, along with hundreds of other generous artist from the Pratt family, made a donation of a piece of work. There were over 300 works of arts at the auction and it was a wonderful event! There were 3 silent auctions and a live auction along with dinner. I can happily say my piece was bid on multiple times and the winner kept an eye on the piece until the close of the bid to make sure he took it home! YAY
This was my first time donation a piece, and even thought it was hard to see it go… I was happy to donate to Pratt and happy to see it so well received and going to a happy home! Makes me want to run back in the studio and make more art!

My favorite First Thursday’s Art Walk are always in the spring… when it stops raining. So you’ll catch me there May – September Seattle’s drier sunnier months. This one was special, I saw plenty art – too much to share sadly but I did mange to grab a bit
Today on my way home from work, I was 3 lovely balloons escaping into the sky. I just watched them float on and was briefly brought back to my childhood. In probably 2nd or 1st grade, we wrote notes and folded paper something kind, something special and we all lined up everyone in my school and released these balloons into the air. It was really awesome and I remember our teacher encouraging us to speculate on who far they would get, or what little child on the other side of the world would reach them. It was like pen pals only way more abstract like releasing your hope, to send love and envisioning it received as love. So beautiful! Made me think of this song by Jason Mraz.
It was packed. I met cool, smart people. It was warm & sunny, then rainy & cold. I learned a bunch about prototyping. I will prototype more. I’m excited about playing with Microsoft Expression Studio and Flash Catalyst. I developed a long design / geeky book list. There is cool art in Austin. I was impressed visually and audibly. I’d recommend a visit to the “oasis” in Texas. But apparently, the summers are unbearably hot!
Weeks ago I attended an Seattle SXSW meetup / tweetup. It was a totally fun event hosted by Ray Page and attended by designers, developers, marketeers, and technology folks all on a mission to drink beer, tweet, and most importantly, win the coveted FREE SXSW Interactive Badge for this year’s event in Austin, TX.
Well, folks, I’m happy to tell you I won and will be in Austin this Saturday March 13th until Tuesday March 16th! It’s my first time in Austin and at SXSW and I can’t wait! I have my schedule all lined up to enjoy panels such as Can the Real-Time Web Be Realized?, Web Evolution: The Rise of Mobile, APIs and Runtimes, Designing the First Fifteen Minutes, workshops like Broadcast to Broadband: Bringing Motion Graphics to Interactive TV and The HTML5 vs. Flash Debate Invades Mobile, and speakers such as Valerie Casey (founder and Executive Director of the Designers Accord) Gary Vaynerchuk, Evan Williams, Cathy Erway (Not Eating Out in NY blog) and Nick Campbell (I just love his blog!).
Oh and there are parties… lots of parties… haha, we’ll see how long I can last after a full days of soaking up all this yummy Techno goodness! And the weather looks lovely, mid-70s all week and 78 and sunny on Sunday
